Key teaching points: 1. If a person collapses and is not breathing, call your emergency services immediately. 2. Place the heel of one hand in the centre of the chest, place the other hand on top, interlock fingers. 3. Push down hard and fast — about 5–6 cm deep, at 100–120 compressions per minute, the tempo of "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees. 4. Do not stop until professional help arrives. 5. Hands-only CPR (no breaths) is the recommended technique for untrained bystanders.
